As a member of the firm’s Construction & Surety Industry Practice Group, Mr. Thomas concentrates his practice in the areas of construction and commercial litigation. His construction litigation experience includes issues involving payment bonds, mechanics’ liens, federal claims, delays, extra work, defects, professional negligence and property damage (both residential and commercial) cases. In addition to representing clients engaged in all aspects of the construction industry, Mr. Thomas also has extensive experience with insurance defense and coverage, personal injury claims and employment and labor issues. He has a broad range of experience successfully prosecuting and defending cases in federal and state court, as well as alternative dispute resolution forums such as the American Arbitration Association and the Allegheny County Construction Dispute Resolution Group. Mr. Thomas is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association. Within those associations, he is a member of the Construction, Civil Litigation and Labor and Employment Law Sections. Mr. Thomas is also an active member of the Allegheny County Young Lawyers Division. Mr. Thomas received his B.S. with high distinction in Administration of Justice with a minor in Business from the Pennsylvania State University in 1999, and received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit. Mr. Thomas has also appeared before numerous administrative bodies, including the Pennsylvania Human Relations Board. Mr. Thomas was named as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2010.
