As a member of Blumling & Gusky’s Construction & Surety Practice Group, Mr. Engel concentrates his practice in construction, surety bonds, commercial and business litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Engel worked for a law firm in Pittsburgh that specialized in construction and commercial litigation. He has successfully litigated and tried cases in both State and Federal Court and panels of the American Arbitration Association. He also has extensive experience in insurance and class action litigation involving Pennsylvania’s bad faith insurance laws. Mr. Engel has litigated and helped to create precedent on numerous insurance coverage issues.
Mr Engel is also involved with numerous charitable causes and has significant legal experience in the non-profit sector. He has helped to organize and create the Yevgeny Girel Orphans' Foundation which has sponsored a variety of charitable causes overseas. A past President for this Foundation, Mr. Engel is currently an active member of its Board of Directors.
Mr. Engel is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and also practices frequently in other states throughout the entire mid-Atlantic region.
Mr. Engel received his B.S. cum laude from Indiana State University in 1990, where he was captain of the football team and active in the school’s athletic program. He received his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1994 where he was a member of the Environmental Law counsel and co-chairman of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association.
